Chromium Oxide Nanopowder Applications:
Chromium oxide nanopowder is one of the most important transition metal oxides, widely used in many industries. They include, but are not limited to: green pigments, hydrogen storage, gas sensors, coating, wear and corrosion resistant materials, catalysts, digital registration system, magnetic applications, pigments to reflect infrared radiation from fire, and application of solar energy. Chromium oxide nanopowders were produced by different methods. Some recent techniques are thermal decomposition, sol-gel, hydrothermal, combustion method, citrate gel method, precipitation gelation, urea method, mechanochemical processing and hard modeling pathway, and the biomethod. Meanwhile, the practical application of these methods in industries has some limitations. These limitations are high costs, low performance, and complicated equipment configuration. Therefore, there is a demand for a simple method to produce nanopowders. The interaction between the chelating agent and the existing ions results in complex ions with a neutral, negative or positive charge. The chromium-EDTA complex has a cage structure in which the cation is effectively surrounded and isolated by the solvent molecules. Chelating agents such as citric acid have been used to produce chromium oxide nanopowders.
