Tungsten Carbide Cobalt Nanoparticle

Wc-Co Nanoparticles are important industrial materials. Nanoparticle composites of tungsten and cobalt carbide have the potential to replace standard materials for tools and wear parts due to their higher hardness and toughness. By reducing the particle size, the fracture toughness and wear resistance of WC-Co Nanoparticles can be significantly increased. Research evidence showed that the mixture of nanoparticles of cobalt and tungsten carbide was carcinogenic in exposed workers. Based on the fact that nanoparticles of nickel metal and titanium dioxide (TiO2) cause more pronounced toxicity than fine particles, the pathogenic effects of nanoparticles of tungsten and cobalt carbide can vary with their size. Although several known or suspected human carcinogenic metal compounds have been shown to induce apoptosis, the relevance of these observations to the carcinogenic process is still not fully understood. Apoptosis is a highly regulated process that is involved in physiological and pathological conditions. Dysregulation of apoptosis has been linked to carcinogenesis, tumor progression and cancer cell resistance to radium and chemotherapy. The malfunction of apoptosis plays an important role in many pathological processes. Ineffective removal of mutated cells may promote carcinogenesis or tumor formation; Failure to kill inflammatory cells can prolong inflammation due to the release of harmful histotoxins.
