Strontium Tungstate Nanoparticles

Introduction:

Strontium Tungstate nanoparticles is an inorganic compound consisting of strontium (Sr), tungsten (W), and oxygen (O). It typically occurs as a white, crystalline solid and is known for its wide range of remarkable properties, including high thermal stability, excellent optical characteristics, and potential for luminescence. Strontium tungstate, in its bulk form, is widely used in a variety of industrial applications, including as a phosphor in cathode ray tubes (CRT) and in the production of radiation shielding materials. However, when synthesized in nanoparticle form, SrWO₄ undergoes significant changes in its properties, primarily due to the reduced particle size and increased surface-area-to-volume ratio.

Nanoparticles, including SrWO₄, typically range from 1 to 100 nanometers in size. This size range results in a dramatic increase in the surface area, which imparts the nanoparticles with unique chemical, physical, and optical properties compared to their bulk counterparts. SrWO₄ nanoparticles are gaining increasing attention in various fields, including nanomedicine, energy storage, catalysis, and environmental monitoring, owing to their ability to interact with light, gases, and biological systems in novel ways.
