Calcium Fluoride Powder
Calcium fluoride powder is an attractive material due to its high stability and non-hygroscopic behavior. Recently, CaF2 powder has received renewed interest as a laser material when doped with rare earth material. With the development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, more attention has been paid to the development of new synthetic routes to nanoscale materials. It is known that many synthetic methods have been successfully developed to prepare nanoscale materials with controllable size and shape. Micropowders of various chemical compositions, shapes and size distributions have been prepared by various methods such as chemical vapor deposition, gas phase condensation, inverse micelle method, sol-gel method, hydrothermal method, microemulsion techniques. However, reports on the synthesis of fluoride powders are limited. The CaF2 powder were synthesized by various methods, such as sol-gel method, solvothermic process, inverse micelle method, various precipitation methods, and flame synthesis. Chemical coprecipitation is a simple method for synthesizing fluoride nanocomposites. The hydrothermal method is also a new method to synthesize better quality powders. In the present work, CaF2 powder are synthesized by coprecipitation and hydrothermal methods and are characterized by XRD, SEM, IR, optical absorption and PL techniques.
