Samarium Oxide Nanopowder :

Sm2O3 nanopowder is one of the important rare earth oxide materials and has been extensively studied. Sm2O3 nanopowder is highly thermally stable and suitable for applications in glass, optics, ceramics, catalysts, solar cells, nanoelectronics, semiconductor gases and biochemical sensors. In this work, we synthesized Sm2O3 using the combustion method. Among the methods used in the synthesis of materials, combustion processes have some important advantages such as low cost, shorter processing time, high efficiency, simplicity and convenience. High purity nanopowders can be easily synthesized in a very short time. Nanomaterials have generated worldwide interest for their exceptional physical and chemical properties derived from the morphology, dimensionality and dimension of the materials. These exhibit excellent and functional electronic, optical and magnetic properties which have numerous applications in various fields. There is a huge interest in materials science for the development of new luminescent materials. Nanoscale phosphors may have advantages over traditional micronized phosphors. Rare earth oxides have been extensively studied for their unique and interesting properties, such as increased luminescence efficiency; lower laser threshold, high-quality phosphors, catalysts, etc. Sm2O3 nanopowder were synthesized using a simple and inexpensive combustion method. Sm2O3 nanopowder were found to be highly crystalline and cubic in structure. Scherrer’s formula was used to calculate the particle size and the mean crystallite size of the synthesized Sm2O3 nanopowder was found to be about 5 nm.
