Vanadium Nitride Powder
Vanadium nitride powder has extreme hardness, high temperature stability, high thermal and electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, making it a suitable compound for many applications. Traditional applications for these materials range from cutting tools and construction materials to magnetic and electrical components, superconducting devices and supercapacitor electrode materials. In addition, VN powder is gaining more and more interest as an important industrial catalyst known for its selectivity and stability in hydrotreating and hydrotreating. VN powder is also a superconductor with a transition temperature of 2 to 9 K. Connection methods at low temperatures are important to obtain a pure, deformable, thin phase with controlled morphology. Therefore, the synthesis by thermal liquid-solid reaction gave good results. On the other hand, mechanosynthesis is considered as a method of synthesizing particulate materials at room temperature, such as amorphous phases, supersaturated solid solutions, metastable phases, intermetallic compounds, composites and ceramics. The metal nitride phases were obtained by grinding elemental powders in a nitrogen or dry ammonia atmosphere. Vanadium nitride powder was obtained by mechanical treatment in a flat ball mill under nitrogen atmosphere with a feed of 60 hours. In the present study, VN was synthesized by mechanical treatment of vanadium metal under nitrogen gas pressure, in a planetary flour mill for 8 hours. Also included is the characterization of the final product and its comparison with that obtained from a thermal process.
