Europium doped Yttrium Oxide Nanoparticles

This nanoparticles have high stability under various atmospheric conditions and high brightness compared to other hosts such as Europium in yttrium oxysulfide (Y2O2S) and yttrium vanadate (YVO4). Europium doped Y2O3 is synthesized by various methods, including sol-gel, solid state reactions, hydrothermal method, and wet chemical synthesis. The synthesis procedure affects the size of the rare earth doped nanoparticles, which in turn affects the efficiency of the luminescence due to the modified energy levels. Recently, the coprecipitation method is used to synthesize yttrium nanoparticles doped with europium and the effect of different precipitating agents on particle size and optical properties is investigated.

The morphology and the shape-dependent luminescence efficiency of the nanoparticles prepared by the hydrothermal method are investigated. In solvothermic synthesis, the effect of the solvent on the morphology of yttriam nanoparticles doped with europium is studied. In the methods mentioned above, it is very difficult to maintain product homogeneity and control the particle size at the same time. Therefore, in this work, the hydrolysis-assisted coprecipitation method was used for the preparation of Eu3 + doped Y2O3 nanoparticles with controlled particle size and homogeneity, simply by adjusting the hydrolysis time. The effect of the annealing temperature on the structure and morphology of Y2O3: Eu3 + nanoparticles were also investigated.
